Second year (semesters 3 & 4) :  Research Track

>Teaching language: English

The objectives of the program of the Research Track (RT) are manifold: To provide a strong background in and the necessary tools to carry on up-to-date analysis in economics and finance. Emphasis is put on the recent developments in the academic literature on those issues. To give students a flavor of the activities involved in research related jobs.

The RT of the master in Economics & Finance offers a specific program that combines advanced analysis at the research level in two specific disciplines, i.e. economics and finance. Students can make an explicit choice between those disciplines, but have to take compulsory courses and one elective course of the other one. This ensures a large background to students and facilitates cross fertilization approaches between the two disciplines.

The RT will give the best master students the possibility to enroll in the Doctoral School in Economics and Finance (DSEF) at the UL. The other students having completed the RT will have the necessary background to apply for jobs in the research related sector, either in Luxembourg or abroad (such as central banks, ministries, the EIB, statistical offices).

In order to be admitted the students must have obtained a Master I or an equivalent degree requiring 4 years of studies. If English is not the native language of the student he or she will have to prove the fluency in this language (level B2) by any well-known certificate. Applications are evaluated by a scientific committee.

Target audience and conditions of admission
